چکیده

GCM proteins constitute a small transcription factor family with a DNA-binding domain exhibiting a novel fold composed of two subdomains rigidly held together by coordination of one of two structural zinc cations. In all known cases, GCM proteins exert the role of master regulators: the prototypical family member determines gliogenesis in Drosophila melanogaster , whereas mammalian GCM proteins orchestrate divergent aspects of development and physiology in placenta, kidney, thymus, and parathyroid gland. Recent data point to an involvement of GCM proteins in different pathological contexts, such as preeclampsia, hyperor hypoparathyroidism, and parathyroid gland tumors.

THE EFFECTS OF 4 WEEKS HIGH INTENSITY INTERVAL TRAINING ON MAMMALIAN RAPAMYCIN TARGET PROTEIN (MTOR) AND STEROL TRANSCRIPTION FACTOR REGULATORY PROTEIN-1 (SREBP1) PROTEINS CONTENT IN DIABETICS OBESE RATS ADIPOSE TISSUE

Background: Obesity and type 2 diabetes can impair the function of important cellular pathways. Activation of the mTOR pathway results in regulation of the SREBP1 protein for metabolism and regulation of adipose tissue. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of 4 weeks of high intensity interval training on the content of mTOR and SREBP1 in adipose tissue of type 2 diabetic rats. ...

Structural requirements for DNA binding of GCM proteins.

Members of the GCM family of transcription factors contain a DNA binding domain unrelated to any other known DNA binding domain and bind to a DNA sequence motif not recognized by any other known transcription factor. Here we show that positions 2, 3, 6 and 7 of the 5'-ATGCGGGT-3' motif are particularly important for DNA binding and that methylation of several G residues on the upper strand, but...

The hypoparathyroidism-associated mutation in Drosophila Gcm compromises protein stability and glial cell formation

Differentiated neurons and glia are acquired from immature precursors via transcriptional controls exerted by factors such as proteins in the family of Glial Cells Missing (Gcm). Mammalian Gcm proteins mediate neural stem cell induction, placenta and parathyroid development, whereas Drosophila Gcm proteins act as a key switch to determine neuronal and glial cell fates and regulate hemocyte deve...

Pneumoviruses: Molecular Genetics and Reverse Genetics

Pneumoviruses are responsible for significant respiratory disease in their hosts and represent a major problemfor human and animal health. Pneumoviruses are members of the family Paramyxoviridae, subfamilyPneumovirinae and the virus particles consist of a negative-sense, nonsegmented RNA genome within a helical nucleocapsid structure enveloped in a lipid membrane derived from the ho...
